Reviews
Living in a major hurricane zone for the last four decades has taught me to store a significant volume of fuel for my generators. Rotating a portion of this fuel through my vehicles, to maintain a fresh supply, is basically a monthly chore. Unfortunately, my days of carrying and pouring five gallon gas cans are long behind me, so an easy method of moving fuel from my storage shed and transferring it to my vehicle has becoming a necessity. For the past few years this has meant moving individual 5 gallon cans with a small handtruck and using a transfer pump to empty each one into my vehicle. The GARVEE 14 gallon (15 gallon per instructions and tank markings) gas can simplifies a lot of this process. Because it holds significantly more fuel and has wheels, I only need to make one trip. This means I no longer have to balance each 5 gallon can on a handtruck while making multiple trips to the driveway. In addition, the tank has an installed siphon pump and hose, which negates the need to attach and remove a transfer pump for each operation.I must note, this tank is large and extremely heavy when filled. A younger person (or two), using this in the back of a pick up would probably not have a problem. However, there is no way that I can fill this and move it in and out of my SUV, so it will be used at home for fuel transfer purposes only. Another thing to consider is that this tank should be (per instructions) stored in the horizontal position. This means it takes up considerable floor space in whatever area you plan on storing it in. And, one word of caution on the discharge hose fittings. They seemed to be fairly well made brass ball valves, but one must be sure they are sufficiently tightened to prevent leaks. Hand tightening will not cut it.Overall, if you need a means to store and transfer a significant volume of fuel, for a job site or recreational activities this gas can might just be your ticket. However, be aware that its size and weight maybe limiting factors when making your decision.
The time they’re good for storage guys, then not heavy and they will uncomfortable to move around
This rides on my work trailer to fuel three mowers and a couple of handhelds. The gallon markers help me track how much we’re using each week, and the rugged build survives daily use.
