I own a couple GARVEE umbrellas and really like all of them. This umbrella is very nice quality and is quite large. The pole and crank mechanism seem to be very good quality and work well. I'm not a big fan of the 3-tier look, though. Kind of looks sloppy when down. It looks good when opened, though, and I would imagine it would be useful on windy days to keep it from blowing over.The solar panel/battery pack comes all taped up in styrofoam, and I didn't notice it at first. I thought I was missing a part. I noticed that the foam block was quite heavy, so I ripped it open to find the solar pack. It simply plugs in on the top, then insert and twist to lock. It works quite well and seems very durable.There isn't any on/off switch for the lights, so the lights come on at dark, even if the umbrella is closed. The light can be seen through the fabric. When the umbrella is open, the lights add a little ambience lighting. Not too bright, though, so won't distract from other nighttime activities and won't be blinding. The lights are integrated into the umbrella's ribs, so there are no wires dangling down.The umbrella is easy to crank down to close, and it includes an attached velcro strap to secure it.This is an excellent umbrella for the current $80 price point.
